PTC released Windchill AI Parts Rationalization, an artificial intelligence capability embedded within its Windchill product lifecycle management (PLM) solution. This new capability is designed to help address persistent parts management challenges, including duplicate parts, slow or inaccurate searches, and inconsistent part data that can contribute to higher costs and extended development cycles.
Windchill AI Parts Rationalization analyzes enterprise part data to help detect similar or redundant parts, which helps organizations to prevent duplication and consolidate existing records through established change workflows. The capability is deployed as a plugin, allowing customers to adopt AI functionality within Windchill while minimizing disruption to existing operations and enabling incremental innovation.
Improving Parts Data Quality and Reuse
The AI-enabled capability is intended to help support more consistent and efficient parts management across engineering teams by:
Identifying duplicate and similar parts across enterprise systems.
Improving part findability, reducing time spent on manual searches.

Advancing AI within the PLM Environment
PTC has indicated plans to extend Windchill AI with additional capabilities focused on classification, reuse, and decision support. Planned enhancements include smart-assisted classification, part reuse within design environments, schema guidance, and tools for monitoring duplicates and comparing material and cost attributes.
