Schneider Electric acquired WattBuy, a software company that provides personalized energy insights and electrification solutions for residential customers. WattBuy’s operations will continue to be led by its current CEO and Co-Founder Naman Trivedi and management team. The acquisition will help Schneider Electric to strengthen its ability to further simplify and accelerate energy transition for its US homeowner customers.
WattBuy will partner with Schneider Electric subsidiaries EnergySage, an online marketplace for solar and storage, and Qmerit, a national provider of electrification services, to help deliver a more end-to-end experience for homeowners covering:
Personalized energy plans
Rooftop solar installations
Battery storage options
EV charger deployment
Home electrification upgrades
WattBuy’s API-first approach has enabled the company to work with brands, such as Redfin, Veterans United Home Loans, and Opendoor, collectively reaching over 100 million consumers.
WattBuy uses proprietary data models to provide customized recommendations for electricity plans, rooftop solar, battery storage, and total energy costs based on a consumer’s address and usage profile. Combined with EnergySage’s marketplace and Qmerit’s service network, Schneider Electric is able to provide a comprehensive digital and physical pathway for electrifying homes.
This acquisition reflects the growing industry focus on residential electrification as a key cornerstone of the energy transition. By combining software-driven insights, transparent marketplaces, and installation networks, companies are moving to help bridge the gap between consumer choice and grid-edge decarbonization.
