New 800 VDC sidecar and system-level power innovations help to enable safer, more scalable and efficient architectures for high-density data centers.

Schneider Electric announced a collaboration with NVIDIA as part of its commitment to advancing 800 VDC power architectures, supporting the industry’s transition toward high-density rack systems that are often the foundation for next-generation data centers.

As compute and power demands continue to rise, Schneider Electric is leveraging a system-level approach that integrates power conversion, protection, and metering for more optimized performance and scalability. This approach helps data center power systems to be more efficient, resilient, and safe for AI workloads.

New Sidecar Supported by System-Level Approach to Power Innovation

To help meet the requirements of modern AI infrastructure, Schneider Electric is collaborating with NVIDIA to develop an 800 VDC sidecar capable of powering racks up to 1.2 MW for next-generation NVIDIA GPUs and future accelerated computing systems. The sidecar converts incoming AC power into 800 VDC, enabling megawatt-scale rack power delivery that is both safer and more cost-efficient.

Key Features of the 800 VDC Sidecar

  • High efficiency for high-density compute environments.

  • Modular power conversion shelves for greater scalability and serviceability.

  • Integrated modular energy storage for short-term backup and load smoothing.

  • Live Swap capability for more enhanced safety and uptime.

This solution reflects Schneider Electric’s system-level design philosophy, helping to ensure components, ranging from conversion and metering to protection, operate as part of a more unified, optimized power infrastructure.

System-Level Innovation for More Predictable, Reliable Power

By focusing on complete power ecosystems versus standalone components, Schneider Electric helps customers to achieve:

  • More predictable, validated performance across critical workloads.

  • Simplified maintenance and scalability for evolving power needs.

  • Higher operational efficiency through integrated protection and monitoring.

Built on Decades of Safety and Reliability Experience and Expertise

Schneider Electric’s approach is based on extensive simulation, testing, and certified validation. Its advanced capabilities include:

  • Fault current and arc flash analysis to help ensure system safety.

  • Certified real-world testing environments for verified performance.

  • Live Swap power capabilities allowing maintenance without operational disruption.

These combined capabilities can help customers to more confidently deploy 800 VDC systems that meet high standards of operational safety, reliability, and energy efficiency.

Supporting the Industry Shift to AI Infrastructure

Aligned with the NVIDIA ecosystem, Schneider Electric’s 800 VDC solutions in architecture form the foundation for next-generation AI infrastructure, helping to enable more scalable, efficient, and intelligent power delivery for the data centers of the future.
