The updates help to strengthen predictive risk modeling, operational coordination, and real-time visibility across transmission and distribution networks.

Schneider Electric introduced new software capabilities to help utilities prepare for, respond to, and recover from major grid-disrupting events, such as severe storms, hurricanes, and wildfires. The updates extend Schneider Electric’s digital grid portfolio with more enhanced prediction, coordination, and restoration capabilities aimed at helping to improve system resilience and outage response.
The expanded functionality builds on Schneider Electric’s long-standing support for utility operations and includes enhancements across grid management, geographic information systems, and transmission operations software. Together, these updates are designed to help utilities coordinate actions more effectively during high-impact events and reduce the duration and scope of service disruptions.
Enhancing Grid Visibility and Coordination
Enhancements to EcoStruxure ArcFM Web further extend the platform’s web-based GIS capabilities, providing planning, operations, and emergency-response teams with a shared and up-to-date view of grid conditions. Updates to EcoStruxure Energy Transmission Operation software help to strengthen coordination between transmission and distribution systems, improving enterprise-wide visibility and operational alignment.
These capabilities are integrated within Schneider Electric’s One Digital Grid Platform, which helps to unify internal systems and third-party intelligence sources to support faster, more coordinated decision-making during major events.
Integrated Risk Modeling and Event Management
The expanded platform incorporates predictive, AI-enabled capabilities and integrates intelligence from ecosystem partners, including Microsoft, AiDASH, Technosylva, and Neara, to further enhance risk modeling and emergency response. The combined capabilities help to support utility actions, such as public safety power shutoffs and accelerated service restoration following disruptions.
Key capabilities include:
Predictive risk modeling, using live weather data, vegetation analytics, and asset health insights.
Automated workflows, supporting inspection, network reconfiguration, and resource dispatch.
Real-time situational awareness, leveraging advanced distribution management, distributed energy resource management, and geospatial intelligence.
Enterprise asset performance inputs, strengthening asset-level prioritization during major events.
Digital twin simulation, helping to ensure operational decisions reflect live grid conditions.
Supporting a Changing Regulatory and Risk Landscape
As extreme weather events increase in frequency and severity, utilities face growing operational and regulatory pressures. The enhanced grid software is designed to further support faster response, improved coordination, and more consistent execution during high-risk scenarios, helping utilities reduce outage duration and recovery costs.
In parallel, regulatory changes, such as the phase-out of SF₆-insulated switchgear in certain regions are accelerating utility adoption of alternative technologies. Schneider Electric’s grid portfolio includes support for SF₆-free solutions designed to help align resilience initiatives with longer-term sustainability and compliance requirements.
