Schneider Electric unveiled its end-to-end liquid cooling portfolio for hyperscale, colocation, and high-density data centers, providing the first comprehensive view of its capabilities since acquiring Motivair in early 2025. The solutions combine Schneider Electric’s infrastructure, software, and services with Motivair’s experience in exascale and accelerated computing to help address the rising thermal demands of AI Factories.
The portfolio is designed to support the shift toward higher rack densities, beyond 140 kilowatts today and up to 1 megawatt in the future, as hotter, denser AI chips are driving the need for liquid cooling. Direct liquid cooling, estimated to be up to 3,000 times more effective than air at removing heat, is essential for more reliable, efficient performance. Its deployment requires a full lifecycle approach, from sourcing and installation to ongoing maintenance, which the combined Schneider Electric–Motivair offering can deliver.
Liquid Cooling Portfolio for AI Data Centers
The portfolio includes:
Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs): Scalable from 105 kW to 2.5 MW and integrated with leading silicon technologies, supporting six of the world’s top ten supercomputers.
ChilledDoor® Rear Door Heat Exchanger: Cools rack densities up to 75 kW with a rack-agnostic design that is suitable for high-performance GPU environments.
Liquid-to-Air Heat Dissipation Unit (HDU™): Compact, high-efficiency unit delivering 100 kW of heat rejection; can create a water loop to cool up to 132 kW in alignment with NVIDIA’s NVL144 architecture.
Chillers and Technology Cooling System (TCS) Loops: Closed-loop air-cooled chillers that can reduce water usage by up to millions of gallons per megawatt annually and offer up to 20 percent higher performance versus conventional solutions.
Software: Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure software helps to optimize thermal management and energy efficiency for mission-critical environments.
Services: Over a decade of global deployment and maintenance experience, with more than 600 trained field service technicians and EcoXpert cooling partners globally.
Global Manufacturing, Expertise, and Testing
The combined capabilities are supported by a global supply chain and rigorous product validation.
Global Supply Chain: Motivair’s fourth production facility in Buffalo, New York, and expansion in Italy and India have tripled output and reduced lead times.
Rigorous Testing: All models undergo real-world performance testing and cleanliness flushing before shipment to better ensure reliability during deployment.
By uniting Motivair’s expertise in high-density cooling with Schneider Electric’s global infrastructure, software, and services, the companies aim to help data centers manage the increasing thermal demands of HPC and AI workloads more efficiently and at scale. The solutions combine hardware, software, and services into a cohesive portfolio to support the next generation of AI-driven data centers.
