Especially in the software area, forming a strong network and ecosystem is key to success.  The market tends look to individual market leaders in all technical niches, which then dominate and bring this technology Geographic Information Systemsforward.  We have observed this is many areas, and from a theoretic point of view, a software market tends to a natural monopoly.  We reported that Siemens has launched and increased its Xcelerator platform, and this ecosystem has now gained a new market leader as a partner:  Esri.

Siemens Smart Infrastructure has partnered with Esri, the global leader in geographic information systems (GIS) and location intelligence, to expand its ecosystem of partners for its grid software business. The partnership enhances capabilities for the planning, operations, and maintenance of power networks at grid operators by combining Esri’s mapping and spatial analytics software and Siemens’ electrical topology expertise. In doing so, the companies aim to upgrade the data flow between applications for increased planning accuracy and for better operations of the distribution grid. The partnership´s objective is to improve the admission of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) to the grid so that net zero can be achieved faster.

The target of the partnership is that Siemens and Esri bring grid planning and operation to a new level

Geodata combined with Siemens´ modeling and simulation software boosts creation of holistic digital twin of the grid for planning, simulation, and real-time operations to accelerate the energy transition

Complementary product partners are part of the Siemens Xcelerator ever-growing ecosystem of partners to accelerate digital transformation.
