At the 2019 ARC Industry & City Forum in Orlando, I chaired an illuminating session on the future of the parking industry.
I was joined by leaders from SP+, CloudParc, and Walker Consultants to discuss trends and trajectories in the space. Speakers shared their perspectives and experiences in the industry and joined a panel discussion, which concluded with audience questions.
During the session, we looked at how IoT applications, demand pricing, congestion pricing, flexible facility design, and planning with the stakeholder communities in mind will be key to improving parking in cities going forward.
Here are my introductory comments:
Dana Klein, Chief Commercial Officer of CloudParc, gives an overview of some of the problems in the parking world:
Jim Corbett of Walker Consultants discussed the need for new parking structure developments today to be designed with an eye toward changing use patterns:
Bob Kamper and Jason Sutton, VP of Municipal Operations and Regional Manager respectively from SP+, spoke of the importance of putting user needs and stakeholders first as a parking integrator or consultant:
Then, Dana Klein explained how IoT solutions come into play for parking, highlighting some of the concepts behind CloudParc's technology:
Lastly, all four speakers joined me for an excellent panel discussion and to field a few audience questions:
