The 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) on 31 October – 13 November 2021 in Glasgow, Scotland reaffirmed the targets of the 2015 Paris Agreement: Limiting the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.  Achieving these goals will require rapid, drastic, and sustained reductions of global greenhouse gas emissions, including reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 45 percent by 2030 (relative to 2010 level), as well as substantial reductions in other greenhouse gases.

At the same time, heavy investment in power generation and energy are required to meet the challenges of a growing demand for electrical energy and rising energy prices due to geopolitical issues. The majority of these investments rely on natural resources, which are finite and impact the environment adversely. One of the best strategies to curtail the situation is avoiding wasting energy and increasing energy efficiency.

There is rapidly growing demand worldwide for more efficient products to cut energy consumption, reduce emissions and support a more sustainable future. To reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, many governments have imposed local regulations. Decarbonization or carbon neutrality targets put pressure on  manufacturing and energy companies to further limit their carbon emissions and to invest in sustainable, energy efficient solutions and green energy sources.

ACHEMA trade fair 2022

Carbon-Neutral ProductionOn August 22, the ACHEMA trade fair in Germany will open its doors to 150,000 process industry professionals from 150 countries. The event offers a comprehensive mix of technology and global networking.

One of the topics covered at ACHEMA this year is Sustainability presented in the dedicated “Green Innovation Zone”. Five areas will be in the spotlight at Green Innovation Zone: climate-neutral production, circular economy, industrial water, sustainable chemistry, and bio-based economy.

This special area for sustainable production and circular economy will highlight green innovations and the challenges facing the process industry on the way to a carbon-neutral production. The process industry is fully committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, making the international, cross-industry opportunities offered by ACHEMA all the more valuable. The “Green Innovation Zone” in hall 6.0 brings together pioneers, experts and solution providers from industry, politics, and science on one hand and decisionmakers, users, and interested parties from all over the world on the other.

“Automation in Dialog” at ACHEMA 2022

ARC Advisory Group, NAMUR and ZVEI are organizing the forum “Automation in Dialog” at ACHEMA 2022. What does the future of modularization look like? How do safety and security go together? Why do information models exist, and how do they accelerate our processes? These and many more topics are on the agenda, and we invite you to explore and discuss them with our experts.
