In this interesting video from the 2020 ARC Industry Forum in Orlando, Stuart Laval from Duke Energy discusses the benefits of the emerging Open Field Message Bus (OpenFMB) standard to help power utilities meet the data and information challenges associated with the increasing fraction of distributed energy resources in today's energy mix. According to Mr. Laval, OpenFMB combines the best aspects of the Common Information Model (CIM) and IEC 61850 standards to fill the gaps in existing information systems to support real-time distributed intelligence and decision making at the edge.
