A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Gujarat Government and Siemens India to establish 6 centers of excellence (COE) in six engineering colleges to provide higher education facilities in various engineering disciplines. Similar MoUs had been signed with them for five COEs in the past.
This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of Gujarat Power Research and Education Institute, an engineering college at Mevad village of Mehsana district. According to a press release, this is Gujarat's first college that came up under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking on the occasion, State Roads and Buildings Minister, Nitin Patel said that the Centers of Excellence will turn out 69,000 trained professionals for diverse industries ranging from automotive, aerospace, defense, and ship building.
