Voith Is Continuing Its Growth Strategy by Expanding Its Core Business Through Targeted Acquisitions

Voith is continuing its growth strategy by expanding its core business through targeted acquisitions in the field of electric drive systems, energy, rail vehicle gear units, and paper production. Recently, Voith acquired ELIN Motoren and Toscotec and signed a joint purchase agreement with PCS Holding, for Traktionssysteme Austria. Voith says that these acquisitions are part of Voith’s focus on products and systems that support user companies in the areas of sustainability and decarbonization.

Voith Hydro

In March 2022, Voith completed the acquisition of the remaining 35 percent stake in Voith Hydro from its former joint venture partner Siemens Energy.

ARGO-HYTOS

On June 6, 2022, Voith took over Swiss ARGO-HYTOS, a company that develops and produces components for hydraulics and system solutions with a focus on the sectors agricultural tractors, construction equipment, and material handling vehicles.

Older Acquisitions

ELIN Motoren

In April 2020, Voith completed the acquisition of Austrian ELIN Motoren, a technology company active worldwide in the field of electric motors and generators, and custom solutions for industrial applications.  This acquisition added value to Voith’s industrial drive solutions and makes them a technology-independent supplier of drive systems. 

Toscotec

Voith acquired Toscotec also in April 2020. The Italian company specializes in the design and manufacture of machinery and equipment to produce tissue, paper, and board. providing customers with customized solutions from complete production lines to rebuilds and single components.

Planned Acquisitions

IGW Rail

Voith is planning to take over IGW Rail, headquartered in the Czech Republic, a specialist in gear units for rail vehicles and part of the Belgian BMT Group. Through this acquisition Voith aims to become one of the world’s largest independent manufacturers of rail vehicle gear units and transmissions. A corresponding purchase agreement was signed on July 6th, 2022.
