Collaboration brings AI-driven digital twins to factory operations at scale
Rockwell Automation announced its integration of NVIDIA Omniverse application programming interfaces into its Emulate3D digital twin software. This initiative is designed to help users to further advance factory operations using artificial intelligence and physics-based simulation technology.

Digital twins help to streamline equipment development and control testing, which can reduce startup time and operational risks. Challenges can arise, however, as lines scale and require interoperability between components engineered separately. Larger digital twins also require greater computational resources. To help address these needs, Rockwell Automation is leveraging NVIDIA Omniverse to help provide scalable, system-level solutions for factory-scale models.
Emulate3D digital twin software, incorporating NVIDIA RTX rendering and OpenUSD interoperability, will help to further enable dynamic emulation and system-wide testing across multiple machines. Planned for early 2025, this integration offers improved visualization and simulation for manufacturing environments.
This platform will support engineers by combining dynamic digital twins into a more complete factory view through a web app. Its vendor-agnostic and scalable approach helps to facilitate collaboration across engineering teams, addressing the increasing demand for more comprehensive factory-scale digital twins.
With this collaborative solution, manufacturers can leverage:
Hyperscale capabilities through Emulate3D’s multi-model technology
Cloud-based deployment options for additional flexibility
Vendor-agnostic connectivity to a range of 3D applications
A unified web app for enhanced visualization
Emulate3D software also provides tools to help preemptively identify control issues, simulate performance, and enable virtual training environments, which helps to reduce risks during implementation. NVIDIA Omniverse helps to enhance this process by integrating multiple factory layers into more cohesive models, which helps to facilitate greater collaboration between architectural design and industrial operations.
The solution is designed to help industries with complex manufacturing needs, including consumer packaged goods, automotive, life sciences, and semiconductor manufacturing.
