Collaboration Enhances Generative AI Capabilities for Streamlined Product Development in Manufacturing
PTC has announced a partnership with Microsoft and Volkswagen Group to develop a generative artificial intelligence (AI) copilot for the PTC Codebeamer® application lifecycle management (ALM) solution. The upcoming Codebeamer Copilot aims help to simplify and enhance requirements management as part of the product development process, addressing the unique needs of software development in physical products.
By integrating Microsoft Azure AI capabilities, Codebeamer Copilot is designed to help support engineers in creating, managing, testing, validating, and releasing product requirements. The collaboration builds on Volkswagen Group’s adoption of Codebeamer for software development across its brands and vehicle projects.
The new AI-powered Copilot will include features to help assist with generating specifications and test cases, helping to improve requirement quality through duplication checks and adherence to quality standards, and helping to facilitate the import of legacy requirements references from older IT systems. These capabilities aim to help increase efficiency and reduce time spent on critical tasks, such as importing, reviewing, and drafting requirements.
PTC, Volkswagen Group, and Microsoft are aligning their expertise to address manufacturing challenges and advance the use of generative AI in product development. This initiative highlights the potential for AI to help simplify traditionally complex processes in the manufacturing sector.
The beta release of Codebeamer Copilot is anticipated in early 2025, offering select PTC customers the opportunity to explore its capabilities.
