Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. has agreed to acquire Edge Impulse Inc., a company specializing in embedded machine learning solutions. This acquisition aims to strengthen Qualcomm’s edge capabilities for developers, expand its support for AI-driven IoT products and services, and complement its recently launched Dragonwing portfolio for industrial and IoT applications.
The growing adoption of AI in IoT solutions is fueled by its ability to enhance or automate workflows through rapid data collection, AI-driven analysis, and improved decision-making, enabling greater operational flexibility and efficiency. The integration of Edge Impulse with the Qualcomm AI Hub aims to enhance model performance on Qualcomm Technologies' hardware, offering accelerated support for computer vision, audio and speech recognition, and AI inferencing capabilities.
