OMRON has entered into a strategic partnership with Cognizant to advance IT and OT integration in manufacturing. As part of the collaboration, Cognizant will serve as the engineering partner for OMRON’s Industrial Automation Business (IAB) products.
OMRON, known for its advanced automation technology, and Cognizant, with expertise in IT-OT convergence, will provide a unified solution for digital transformation. The partnership brings together OMRON's OT offerings—including sensors, controllers, servo motors, safety equipment, and robots—with Cognizant's IT strengths in cloud, AI, IoT, and digital twin technologies.
By combining their strengths, OMRON and Cognizant aim to create a business model that addresses both operational and management challenges through ongoing IT-OT analysis and improvements. This integration supports sustainable manufacturing by enhancing productivity, increasing workforce efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
OMRON’s extensive product portfolio of over 200,000 SKUs enables the collection of high-quality field data for Cognizant’s Asset Performance Excellence (APEx) platform and its Industry 4.0/5.0 maturity assessment tool, OnePlant™. By combining this data with management information, the collaboration supports analysis of IT-related issues and helps prioritize improvements from a business perspective. Insights are then applied through OMRON’s control applications and the i-BELT data utilization service, allowing for a comprehensive approach to addressing on-site challenges connected to broader management goals.
Value provided through this collaboration:
Balancing economic and social value for the future of manufacturing through advanced technologies.
Promoting sustainable manufacturing by enhancing workforce efficiency, boosting productivity, and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
Empowering people through data-driven decision making with manufacturing intelligence, AI & automation and digitalization.
Through this collaboration, OMRON and Cognizant aim to reshape the future of manufacturing by uniting automation and digital intelligence. Their combined approach delivers data-driven solutions that not only optimize operations but also contribute to sustainability and long-term value creation across industries.
