Siemens has released SIMATIC IPC Protector, an application designed to enhance security protection and reduce the IPC attack surface, running on its ORCLA Core platform. SIMATIC IPC ORCLA, an ORChestration LAyer for SIMATIC IPCs, enables individual, machine-level, and remotely controllable management and monitoring of the IPC platform. The modular framework is intended to simplify the process of updating drivers and firmware while reducing maintenance time and effort.
Functions of SIMATIC IPC ORCLA Protector include:
Detection of Brute Force Attacks: Monitors brute force attempts and protects IPCs from unauthorized access.
Application Allowlisting: Allows creation of an allowlist of trusted applications so only approved software can run on IPCs.
Deactivation of USB Ports: Enables selective deactivation of USB ports to prevent unauthorized devices from establishing a connection.
Kiosk Mode for Specific Applications: Restricts IPC functionality to one specified application.
Individual Security Policies: Allows definition of customized security policies.
ORCLA Protector is part of the ORCLA Core platform and is activated with a separate license.
