Siemens participated as a Global Sponsor at ARC Advisory Group’s 23rd India Forum titled Winning in the Industrial AI Era on July 10-11, 2025. The forum brought together over 300 delegates to discuss how Industrial Artificial Intelligence is reshaping global industrial operations. Vikas Manoria, Head – Regional Product Management, Factory Automation, Digital Industries, Siemens Limited, and Sabarinathan Saravanan, Regional Product Manager, Digital Industries, Siemens Limited, spoke about Generative AI (GenAI) and how GenAI-powered Industrial Copilots are enhancing industrial effectiveness and productivity. Their session on Industrial AI, Data Fabric, and Metaverse concluded with an engaging panel discussion.
As the manufacturing sector accelerates its digital transformation, the integration of Generative AI is no longer a futuristic concept—it is a present-day game changer. Leading this evolution is Siemens’ Industrial Copilot, a GenAI-powered assistant designed to optimize every stage of the manufacturing value chain. This marks a significant shift in how factories design, engineer, operate, and maintain their systems. This blog highlights key points from their presentation. It can be viewed on YouTube and/or here:
From Edge AI to Adaptive Manufacturing
Siemens’ journey began with AI at the industrial edge, demonstrating how localized computing can host AI applications securely and efficiently. In 2024, the focus shifted to adaptive manufacturing through the Industrial Operations X portfolio, enabling factories to evolve from rigid automation to dynamic, interoperable ecosystems. This year, the spotlight is on GenAI and its role in creating intelligent Industrial Copilots that support decision-making across the manufacturing lifecycle.
Understanding the Industrial Copilot
Siemens Industrial Copilot is the first generative AI assistant purpose-built for industrial operations. Unlike general-purpose AI, Industrial AI is tailored for the shop floor—prioritizing safety, reliability, and explainability. It’s not just about automating tasks; it’s about transforming how engineers, operators, and technicians interact with machines and data. The Industrial Copilot is more than a tool—it’s a strategic enabler of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation. By embedding intelligence across the value chain, Siemens empowers manufacturers to be faster, safer, and more adaptive than ever before.
Live demonstrations showcased both the Engineering and Operations Industrial Industrial Copilots.
Engineering Copilot: Code Smarter, Not Harder
For automation engineers, the Engineering Copilot is a productivity revolution. It can:
Generate PLC code from natural language prompts
Explain existing code in regional languages like Kannada
Configure cybersecurity settings by parsing complex manuals
Modify logic and integrate new requirements seamlessly
This tool drastically reduces development time—from weeks to minutes—while ensuring precision and compliance.
Operations Copilot: Real-Time Insights on the Shop Floor
The Operations Copilot brings conversational AI to the factory floor. Connected to live machine data and documentation, it allows operators to:
Query machine status in real time
Monitor production metrics such as good/bad parts
Predict output for the next hour based on current performance
Diagnose alarms and receive step-by-step resolution guidance
This not only enhances operational efficiency but also democratizes expertise—enabling even new hires to troubleshoot like seasoned professionals.
A Copilot for Every Stage of Manufacturing
Siemens’ vision extends beyond engineering and operations. The Industrial Copilot ecosystem includes:
Design Copilot NX – Provides AI engineering assistance to streamline complex design tasks and accelerate product development
Planning Copilot Teamcenter Easy Plan – A GenAI-powered assistant for efficient production planning
Simulation Copilot Tecnomatix Process Simulate – Facilitates troubleshooting and optimization of complex manufacturing simulations
Senseye Predictive Maintenance – Offers visibility and insights across assets, helping reduce downtime
This end-to-end coverage ensures that every phase of the manufacturing process benefits from AI-driven optimization.

Building an AI Ecosystem: Collaboration is Key
Siemens understands that no single company can dominate the AI landscape. That’s why it’s fostering an ecosystem of AI agent developers. A notable example is the integration with EPLAN, where changes in PLC configurations automatically update electrical schematics—streamlining workflows and reducing errors.
Industrial Copilot in Action
The Industrial Copilot has already made waves, winning the prestigious Hermes Award at Hannover Messe. With its first Indian deployment of the Senseye Copilot recently secured, Siemens is proving that smart manufacturing is not just a vision—it’s a reality.
Summarizing Siemens’ Perspectives at the Panel Discussion
Siemens is developing Engineering and Operations Industrial Copilots as add-ons for the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) Portal to assist with code generation and validation. Currently, code generated by the Copilot can be tested using the TIA Portal test suite. These Industrial Copilots are designed to be industry-specific, with an Industrial Foundation Model trained on the “language of engineering.” This model goes beyond typical LLMs, supporting not only text and images but also 3D models, 2D drawings, and complex structures like time-series data.
At present, these Industrial Copilots operate within the Siemens ecosystem, but plans are underway to create an agent marketplace where agents from various OEMs can collaborate and integrate. The broader vision is to foster interoperability and collaboration across companies through this expanding ecosystem.
