New MaintainX Ignition Module connects SCADA data to maintenance workflows for real-time, automated work order creation.

MaintainX announced an integration collaboration with Inductive Automation, creator of the Ignition industrial application platform, to help turn equipment data from sensors and control systems into automatic maintenance actions. At the center of the announcement is the release of the new MaintainX Ignition Module, which enables Ignition users to more seamlessly connect SCADA data to MaintainX to automate alerts, monitor conditions, and generate work orders in real time. The integration helps to eliminate manual monitoring processes and reduce unplanned downtime through proactive maintenance scheduling. Maintenance teams gain visibility into machine status, downtime events, and failure reasons directly within MaintainX workflows, reducing the need to toggle between systems for critical insights.

This collaboration reflects the growing convergence of operational technology (OT) and maintenance execution systems, addressing the need for actionable intelligence from connected devices. By unifying data flow from OT to AI-powered maintenance execution, organizations can further accelerate their transition from reactive to predictive strategies.

Key Capabilities of the MaintainX–Ignition Integration

  • Condition-Based Maintenance: Automatic work order creation when equipment conditions, such as temperature or vibration, exceed safe operating parameters

  • Usage-Based Maintenance: Maintenance scheduled based on runtime or production cycles to replace fixed calendar-based scheduling

  • Enhanced Fault Tracking: Real-time capture and logging of equipment failures with automatic status updates and downtime reason tracking

The integration leverages Ignition’s ability to collect and contextualize industrial data, automatically pushing actionable insights to MaintainX. This unified approach helps to eliminate common pain points, such as slow alarm response, notification overload, and unclear maintenance timing.

The pre-built module is designed for quick installation and configuration, requiring minimal technical expertise while delivering enterprise-grade reliability and scalability. It is available immediately to MaintainX and Ignition customers.
