Key Highlights
Hitachi Energy acquires a minority stake in Shermco, recently acquired by private equity funds managed by Blackstone, helping to strengthen its capabilities to maintain the reliability and safety of North America’s power grid.
Hitachi Energy is investing more than one billion dollars in the organic expansion of its global Service business, developing new digital service solutions, such as HMAX Energy, and growing its workforce.

Shermco is a provider of electrical and design services, and maintenance, repair, testing, and commissioning services across the US and Canada. The collaboration brings together Hitachi Energy as a global technology provider of electrification and Blackstone as a major alternative asset manager. Together, they aim to help expand service capacity and deliver lifecycle support for critical energy infrastructure spanning power generation, transmission, data centers, and industrial electrification.
Hitachi Energy also plans to train and certify over five thousand additional service experts worldwide to help strengthen its capabilities for grid modernization.
These investments help to support the growing need for service reliability as electrification accelerates across industries, transportation, and digital infrastructure. With much of North America’s grid infrastructure nearing the end of, or exceeding its expected lifecycle, the partnership will help utilities, industries, and data centers to maintain, upgrade, and optimize systems to enhance reliability, safety, and sustainability.
