AVEVA Introduces AI Capabilities Across Unified Engineering Solution

The initial release focuses on AI-assisted design, predictive modeling, and point cloud data handling within a unified, data-centric environment.

AVEVA has announced the first set of artificial intelligence capabilities integrated into its Unified Engineering solution, extending AI support across engineering and design activities. The new tools are intended to help engineering teams address increasing project complexity while working within a shared, data-centric environment.

The initial release includes four AI-driven capabilities designed to support different stages of engineering and design work:

  • Industrial AI assistant, embedded within engineering tools to support project tasks and capture product usage knowledge, with the aim of assisting collaboration and onboarding

  • Generative design AI assistant, which analyzes design requirements and constraints to generate optimized layout options, such as pipe routing during early project stages

  • Predictive design AI assistant, enabling users to create machine learning models for organization-specific design challenges without requiring coding

  • Intelligent point cloud framework, which reads, imports, and displays point cloud data augmented with AI-based classification from AVEVA Point Cloud Manager

These capabilities represent the first phase of AI functionality that users can deploy directly within Unified Engineering. Combined with the platform’s data-centric, multidiscipline design environment spanning 1D, 2D, and 3D engineering, the tools are intended to support faster design iterations and improved reuse of engineering data across project teams.

Rather than positioning AI as a replacement for engineering expertise, the tools are designed to augment existing workflows by assisting with analysis, option generation, and automation of selected tasks. By operating on a shared data foundation, the AI capabilities aim to support consistency across disciplines and reduce friction during handovers as projects progress.

The introduction of AI within Unified Engineering reflects a broader focus on establishing a reliable data foundation for industrial AI use in engineering environments. By building on data-centric workflows and domain-specific engineering context, the initial release is positioned as a starting point for further expansion of AI capabilities across multidiscipline design and execution.
