The unified solution combines asset, resource, and business intelligence to help support proactive, data-driven asset lifecycle management.
Hitachi Energy, working with Microsoft, announced its enhanced Ellipse Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) solution, which features embedding AI-enabled capabilities across asset management, analytics, and business operations. This updated solution is intended to help support operators of essential infrastructure, including power grids, transportation networks, and industrial facilities, as they face increasing pressure from aging assets, rising demand, and external disruptions.
Critical infrastructure assets are often decades old and subject to growing operational and environmental stress. Asset failures in these environments can result in cascading impacts, such as service outages, safety incidents, environmental harm, and economic disruption. By combining Ellipse’s established EAM capabilities with Microsoft’s AI, data, and cloud technologies, the solution is designed to help support a shift from reactive maintenance toward proactive, lifecycle-based asset management.
Unified Asset and Business Intelligence
The enhanced Ellipse EAM solution integrates Microsoft Dynamics 365, Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Microsoft Foundry into a unified environment for managing asset data, analytics, and operational workflows. It builds on the strategic alliance between Hitachi, Ltd. and Microsoft to embed Microsoft technologies into Hitachi’s Lumada solutions, extending that collaboration into the energy and infrastructure domains.
By bringing together operational technology and enterprise data, the solution is designed to help support more comprehensive decision-making across asset operations, maintenance planning, and investment strategies.
Key Capabilities and Outcomes
By integrating EAM with enterprise and AI-enabled systems, the solution helps to enable:
End-To-End Visibility, providing a consolidated view of assets, financials, and operations across an organization.
Optimized Asset Management, using integrated data flows to help support budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
Improved Reliability and Resilience, through predictive maintenance enabled by connected operational and enterprise data.
Streamlined Processes, reducing data duplication and accelerating work order execution.
Regulatory and Sustainability Alignment, supporting compliance and environmental, social, and governance reporting.
The solution can recommend maintenance timing based on asset condition, workforce availability, supply chain constraints, and financial considerations, helping organizations to reduce unplanned outages and avoid costly emergency repairs.
Ecosystem-Led Delivery Model
The Ellipse EAM solution will be delivered through Hitachi Energy’s ecosystem of system integrators, including Hitachi Solutions. This model is intended to help support scalable deployment, integration design, and consistent implementation outcomes across global infrastructure environments.
Supporting Long-Term Digital Transformation
Ellipse forms part of the Asset and Work Management suite within the HMAX Energy portfolio of digitally enabled services. By embedding AI and analytics directly into asset and business workflows, the solution is positioned to act as a foundational element for broader digital transformation initiatives, helping to support the transition from static asset records to adaptive, intelligence-driven operations.
