Siemens Digital Industries Software and China-based robotics company Ubtech have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at scaling humanoid robot production from pilot deployments to industrial manufacturing. Ubtech plans to reach an annual production capacity of up to 10,000 units by 2026, reflecting growing interest in humanoid robots for logistics, material handling, and factory applications. The partnership illustrates a broader shift in the humanoid robotics sector from proof-of-concept demonstrations toward repeatable, cost-efficient production models.
A central element of the collaboration is the implementation of an end-to-end digital thread using Siemens’ PLM and manufacturing software. Ubtech intends to virtualize the full lifecycle of humanoid robot development using a comprehensive digital twin. By digitizing design and manufacturing workflows, Ubtech aims to shorten hardware iteration cycles and reduce risk when transitioning new robot designs into series production. This aligns with ARC’s view, which emphasizes that embodied AI systems cannot scale without tight integration between software, hardware, and industrial engineering disciplines. Digital continuity is a prerequisite for moving physical intelligence out of the lab and into production environments.
Siemens is also validating humanoid robotics within its own manufacturing operations. At its electronics facility in Erlangen, Germany, Siemens recently completed a pilot project using a wheel-driven humanoid robot to perform intralogistics tasks across multiple shifts. The robot navigated autonomously using Siemens’ SIMOVE ANS+ software and LiDAR-based SLAM, operating alongside existing AGVs. This real-world validation in dynamic environments is essential, as intelligence emerges from interaction with physical systems, people, and legacy automation rather than from isolated AI models.
