Expansion introduces CBRS-band capability and edge-enabled routers to support industrial connectivity and AI-driven operations.
Siemens is expanding its industrial-grade private 5G infrastructure to the United States and seven additional countries, bringing its availability to a total of 15 markets across Europe and the Americas. The expansion is supported by new radio units covering the 3.8–4.2 GHz band and the US-specific CBRS spectrum, enabling manufacturers to deploy private 5G networks independently on their premises across multiple industrial sectors.

Additionally, Siemens has enhanced its 5G routers with edge runtime capabilities, allowing applications to run directly on the device. This eliminates the need for additional hardware and supports real-time, AI-ready data processing at the shop floor level.
Key Updates
Expansion of private 5G infrastructure to 15 countries across Europe and the Americas.
Introduction of CBRS-band radio unit for the US market.
New radio units supporting the 3.8–4.2 GHz spectrum.
Edge runtime capability enabling applications to run directly on 5G routers.
As industrial AI adoption accelerates, data volumes in manufacturing environments continue to increase. Traditional wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi face limitations in dense industrial settings due to interference and bandwidth constraints. Siemens’ private 5G infrastructure operates on licensed spectrum, providing deterministic and interference-free connectivity for business-critical applications.
The solution is designed for industrial environments, supporting independent, on-premises wireless network operation without reliance on third-party providers. It integrates with existing IT and OT systems as part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio.
Core Capabilities
Support for industrial protocols such as PROFINET.
Configurable upload and download capacities (TDD patterns).
Web-based configuration interface requiring approximately 20 variables.
TÜV-certified support for wireless PROFIsafe communication for safety-related applications.
The infrastructure is newly available in Belgium, Canada, Finland, France, Norway, Poland, and the United Kingdom, with US availability expected in summer 2026. It is already available in Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland.
Industrial 5G is a key component of Siemens’ broader industrial connectivity portfolio, which includes wired and wireless networking, switching, routing, industrial power supplies, and OT network management and cybersecurity solutions. These capabilities support scalable, secure, and high-performance connectivity for AI-driven industrial operations.
