Embedded AI expands PLM workflows across compliance, formulation, and supply chain functions.
Trace One has expanded its embedded AI capability, Trace One Copilot, with three purpose-built assistants operating within its Devex PLM and Regulatory Compliance platforms. The update builds on the initial launch of the Copilot capability in 2025 and extends its application across key workflows in process manufacturing industries.
Regulatory managers, R&D formulators, and supply chain teams in food and beverage, cosmetics, and specialty chemicals sectors often manage fragmented workflows, including navigating legislation databases, re-entering supplier data, and switching between systems to validate formulations. These processes can delay product development timelines and increase compliance complexity.
The expanded Copilot capability introduces three assistants designed to streamline these workflows:
Regulatory Affairs Assistant: Enables natural language queries for compliance-related questions, providing sourced responses based on Trace One’s regulatory intelligence database spanning multiple countries, guidelines, and substance limits.
Product Developer Assistant: Supports formulation by generating recommendations for ingredients, formulas, and packaging based on defined constraints such as cost, nutritional targets, and functional requirements, with associated compliance considerations.
Supply Chain Assistant: Automates extraction of data from supplier documents, including datasheets and certificates, into PLM fields to reduce manual data entry and improve onboarding efficiency.
Each assistant operates within existing PLM workflows using the manufacturer’s own product data. The platform supports configurable AI models, including Trace One-provided models, customer-specific models, or hybrid approaches, across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premise environments. Initial capabilities are currently available, with additional features expected to be introduced over time.
