Open, cloud-connected data infrastructure highlighted To help Modernize Time-series Infrastructure
Inductive Automation and Tiger Data announced a strategic alliance to help modernize time-series data infrastructure. The announcement was made at Hannover Messe 2026, where Tiger Data was exhibiting. The collaboration brings together two platforms spanning industrial operations from edge to cloud, combining Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform with Tiger Data’s time-series data infrastructure.
Tiger Data provides TimescaleDB Enterprise, a commercially licensed, self-managed time-series database built on PostgreSQL, with capabilities including high availability, automated backups, monitoring, and an administrative console for on-premises and edge deployment. Its managed platform, Tiger Cloud, enables centralized analytics across multiple sites.
Industrial organizations across manufacturing, energy, and oil and gas generate large volumes of operational data across distributed facilities and typically store that data in Industrial Historians. However, shifts in the market are increasing demand for enterprise-level analytics and prompting organizations to update their existing time-series data infrastructure.
The collaboration connects data across multiple layers of industrial operations. Ignition is used for data collection across industrial environments, while TimescaleDB Enterprise supports site-level data storage with SQL-based access and local control. Tiger Cloud aggregates data across facilities to help support enterprise-wide visibility and analytics.
Ignition is widely deployed for SCADA, Industrial IoT, MES, and HMI applications, supporting use cases from real-time data capture at the equipment level to plant-wide operations through a unified architecture. The platform has been used alongside TimescaleDB in production environments for several years, supported by community-driven deployment guides and documentation.
The two companies plan to develop joint technical content, including deployment guides, webinars, and best-practice documentation for industrial time-series workloads. Tiger Data will also participate in ecosystem events and engage with the broader Inductive Automation user community through forums and reference architectures. Additional joint initiatives involving TimescaleDB Enterprise, Tiger Cloud, and Ignition are expected to be announced later in the year.
