Hitachi Energy announced the launch of EcoSpace™, a digital sustainability platform designed to quantify and visualize the environmental footprint of power grid projects. It helps to enable utilities, grid developers, and investors to make faster, data-driven decisions while addressing the growing demand for transparent and credible sustainability reporting.
Part of the recently launched HMAX Energy portfolio, EcoSpace is an AI-powered suite of services and solutions designed to help safeguard critical energy infrastructure and transform environmental data into actionable insights. It helps to support organizations in shifting sustainability reporting from a compliance requirement to a more integrated and strategic function.
EcoSpace analyzes the lifecycle of power grid systems, including raw materials, logistics, installation, and operations. It provides visualization of environmental performance across different project phases, regions, and applications. Through dashboard-based insights, it helps to enable users to:

As sustainability considerations are increasingly influencing public tenders and investment decisions, EcoSpace helps to support transparency and compliance requirements across the energy sector. Its methodology is endorsed by DNV, supporting consistency in emissions reporting.
The platform has already been applied in projects, including a collaboration with Statnett at a 420-kilovolt substation in Oslo. In this case, the use of EcoSpace across the project lifecycle reported that a 20 percent reduction in the system’s total carbon footprint can be achieved over a 30-year lifespan.
EcoSpace is designed to help organizations navigate evolving regulatory requirements while supporting financing and stakeholder expectations through a data-driven approach.
