helping to Advance motor reliability and energy efficiency through integrated monitoring and control.

Schneider Electric introduced TeSysTM Tera, an intelligent motor management system designed for industrial applications. The system brings together motor protection, control, and monitoring in a single modular platform aimed at helping to improve reliability, reduce energy consumption, and extend asset life across sectors, such as water and wastewater, mining, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and oil and gas.

Industrial motors account for a significant share of electricity consumption and play a critical role in manufacturing processes, such as pumping, conveying, and compression. Failures in these systems can result in unplanned downtime, increased maintenance costs, and operational disruptions. As a result, industrial operators are increasingly focusing on solutions that help to improve visibility into motor performance and enable earlier detection of faults.

TeSys Tera is designed to help address these challenges by continuously monitoring key electrical parameters, including current, voltage, power, and power factor. The system is designed to provide real-time data to automation environments, helping to provide improved operational visibility and control. Its modular design supports both retrofit and new installation scenarios, helping to enable integration into existing infrastructure without extensive redesign.

  • Load Management and Auto-Restart: Helping to support continuity of operations during power disruptions while reducing manual intervention.

  • Predictive Diagnostics: Includes pre-fault alerts, trip logging, and trend analysis to help identify electrical and mechanical issues before failure.

  • Simplified Configuration: On-unit programming helps to reduce reliance on external control system expertise.

  • Energy Monitoring: Provides motor-level insights into energy consumption and efficiency, supporting optimization efforts.

  • Multi-Protocol Connectivity: Helps to enable integration with SCADA and distributed control systems through standard industrial communication protocols.

The system also supports integration with Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure platform, helping to enable centralized monitoring and management across distributed operations. This aligns with broader industry trends toward connected, data-driven operations, where digital tools are used to help improve efficiency and reduce total cost of ownership.

In infrastructure sectors, such as water and wastewater, where aging assets and workforce constraints are ongoing challenges, improved motor management can play a key role in maintaining system performance and reliability. The introduction of TeSys Tera reflects continued investment in digital and automation solutions to further address these operational pressures.

TeSys Tera is available in North America for both new installations and retrofit applications, with a phased transition planned from the existing TeSys T platform.
