AI has the potential to reduce the engineering “grunt work” associated with complex tasks in process automation. The end user members of ARC’s Open Digital Ecosystem (ODE) working group have identified HAZOP analysis in process safety applications as one of the primary use cases that can benefit from industrial AI.

Traditional HAZOP studies are very manual and resource-intensive, requiring multidisciplinary teams to review P&IDs and supporting documentation manually to identify risk scenarios.  AI introduces a step-change in efficiency by rapidly analyzing large datasets, identifying patterns, and significantly reducing the time and effort required.    

ODE will host a webinar on AI-augmented HAZOP on Thursday, June 25, at 11 AM US Eastern Time, focusing on how we can accelerate innovation in AI-powered HAZOP. Participants include Michael Hotaling of ExxonMobil, Johan Immerzeel of Shell, and Udayan Dutta of BP.  This webinar is open to all end users, asset owners, EPCs, service providers, and industry suppliers.
