Over the last year much has been written about IIoT enabled solutions adding real business value across all industries (in my case upstream and midstream oil & gas operations specifically) and it helping to not only improve companies’ operational performance but also open up the opportunity for new potential business models and revenue streams. ARC believes that IIoT also helps improve organizational collaboration, both within internal and external ecosystems, and culture - those two special intangibles that have a disproportionate positive impact on overall operational performance and help change corporate organizational dynamics for the better. In this author’s opinion, getting good data from smart sensors is where IIoT all begins; thus the moniker “tip of the spear”.
During ARC’s upcoming
20th Annual ARC Industry Forum, Industry in Transition: Navigating the New Age of Innovation the session on
Leveraging Smart Field Systems to Create Value in Process Industries will see to discuss the impact that IIoT enabled smart sensors are having in providing meaningful business value to operational performance and organizational dynamics in process industries. Some possible topics discussed in this year’s session may include multiphase flow metering, IIoT enabled sensor solutions for well monitoring and optimization, or how wireless sensors are not only providing safety but enhancing operational performance. Although the speaking slots are closing fast there may be room for one more speaker that can offer a compelling case study of how smart sensors and IIoT impacted their operations for the better.
