ARC once again has a comprehensive cybersecurity program at our annual Industry Forum in Orlando, Florida from Feb 3-6.  The detailed forum agenda will provide you with more information on all of our sessions, including the many cybersecurity sessions and workshops.  Monday, Feb 3 is our cybersecurity workshop day, with a full day of workshops and sessions planned.

To kick off the Monday Workshop sessions we have a session titled “What's Happening in Cybersecurity for Industry, Infrastructure, and Smart Cities?”  In this session, ARC Analysts will share their insights on the trends and developments occurring in industrial cybersecurity.  The information will include the general changes that our analysts are observing in the people, process, and technology strategies being adopted by end-users in their efforts to improve facility security, address sophisticated attacks, and deal with new digital transformation challenges.  General changes in technologies and the markets for cybersecurity solutions and service offerings will also be discussed.

ARC's presentation will be followed by presentations from CIAS ICS-CERT and Moody's regarding their respective views on industrial cybersecurity and an open discussion where attendees can ask questions and add their own insights and comments on the various topics.

Attendees of this session will gain insight into the current state of cybersecurity in their industries and the developments occurring in the product and services markets.  This information will be of benefit to owner-operators, solution providers, service providers, and researchers involved in industrial cybersecurity.

Enabling Secure Digital Transformation

At 10:30 AM Monday we have or session on cybersecurity as it affects the ongoing wave of digital transformation.  Security has been an ongoing concern for digital transformation leaders.  In some cases, this is delaying deployment of new business strategies with significant benefits.  Yet confusion over the meaning of "digital transformation" continues to constrain progress.

Like the story of five blind men describing an elephant, suppliers see digital transformation from different perspectives.  Some see it as the deployment of new, cloud-connected devices within existing facility perimeters.   Others see it as sharing existing plant data with cloud analytic packages and external applications.  Still others, see it as enabling vendor support and remote control of processes.  Each of these presents unique challenges, but they can all be addressed once security teams understand the required use cases.  Lacking a shared understanding of the problem, industrial cybersecurity teams restrict deployments unnecessarily and business leaders launch programs without appropriate security controls in place.

The purpose of this workshop is to foster dialogue between digital transformation leaders and industrial cybersecurity professionals.  A panel of digital transformation and industrial cybersecurity leaders will discuss specific needs and solution strategies that can be followed to overcome the current situation.  Attendees will be invited to offer their input and discuss their own issues and concerns. Participation in this workshop will be of benefit to owner-operators, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the security of digital transformation programs.
