Rockwell Automation announced that it has agreed to purchase MagneMotion, a manufacturer of intelligent conveying systems. MagneMotion systems are used across a range of industrial applications including automotive and general assembly, packaging, and material handling. This acquisition will complement Rockwell Automation's iTRAK to create a broad portfolio of independent cart solutions in this emerging technology area.

Inductive Automation and Cirrus Link Solutions announced the upcoming release of the Cirrus Link MQTT Modules for Ignition. Ignition by Inductive Automation is a database-centric, web-deployed, cross-platform, industrial applications platform for HMI, SCADA, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The new modules — MQTT Engine, MQTT Injector, and MQTT Distributor — are the result of a new partnership between Cirrus Link and Inductive Automation. These modules will accelerate organizations' ability to leverage the IIoT.

Cisco announced its intent to acquire Jasper Technologies, Inc., a privately held company that delivers a cloud-based IoT service platform to help enterprises and service providers launch, manage and monetize IoT services on a global scale. Under the terms of the agreement, Cisco will pay $1.4 billion in cash and assumed equity awards, plus additional retention based incentives.

HMS Industrial Networks AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Networks AB), has signed an agreement to acquire all of the shares of the Belgium-based company eWON SA - an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) player and provider of intelligent Internet-based remote access routers. The purchase price amounts to EUR 30 million on a cash-free/debt-free basis, to be paid in a combination of cash and shares in HMS Networks AB.

Siemens and CD-adapco have entered into a stock purchase agreement for the acquisition of CD-adapco by Siemens. The purchase price is $970 million. CD-adapco is a global engineering simulation company with software solutions covering a wide range of engineering disciplines, including Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Solid Mechanics (CSM), heat transfer, particle dynamics, reactant flow, electrochemistry, acoustics, and rheology. Last fiscal year, CD-adapco had over 900 employees and revenue of close to $200 million with software-typical double-digit margins.

IBM announces that it has acquired Ustream Inc., a provider of cloud-based live video streaming services to extend the IBM Cloud platform to help enterprise clients unlock the value of video, a rapidly-evolving digital media and data asset.

Ustream provides cloud-based video streaming to enterprises and broadcasters for everything from corporate keynotes to live music concerts. The company streams live and recorded video to about 80 million viewers per month for customers such as NASA, Samsung, Panasonic, CBS News, and PBS NewsHour.

Infor, a leading provider of business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, announced a strategic partnership with Predictix, a provider of cloud-native, predictive, and machine-learning solutions for retailers. As part of this partnership, Infor has invested $25 million in Predictix, whose applications use next-generation data science and big data analytics to help solve some of the most complex and challenging problems faced by retailers today.
