EdgeX Foundry, an open source project building a common interoperability framework to facilitate an ecosystem for Internet of Things (IoT) edge computing, announced that the first major code release, dubbed “Barcelona”, will be available later this month. Barcelona is EdgeX Foundry’s first code release since the project launched in April 2017 and represents a collaborative effort by more than 60 member organizations to build out and support an ecosystem for Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions.

The 20^th edition of the POWTECH trade fair for processing, analysis, and handling of powder and bulk solids in Nuremberg presented 835 exhibitors from 29 countries in six exhibition halls. More than 14,000 visitors benefited from the supporting program in addition to the broad range of products and services at the exhibition itself. Around 40 percent of the exhibitors and the visitors came from outside Germany to this meeting place for the bulk solids community in all industries, from the foodstuffs, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors to construction, ceramics and recycling.

Intel announced the launch of Intel Secure Device Onboard (Intel SDO). This technology securely automates and brings IoT devices online within seconds rather than hours. Intel SDO is being offered to IoT platform providers as a service they can provide to customers who wish to onboard thousands of connected devices.
