In advance of the EMO 2017 trade show in Hanover, Germany, Siemens announced Sinumerik Edge, a new platform for machine-oriented (edge computing) applications, which uses real-time data for process monitoring and optimization. Siemens plans to offer tailor-made applications (Edge Apps) for monitoring and optimization, among other services. In addition, machine manufacturers and service providers can develop and integrate their own edge apps into the open platform.

PAS Global, LLC announces the new release of PlantState Suite (PSS) 8.3 featuring Alarm Mechanic. This new feature reportedly helps improve process plant safety and console operator performance minimizing nuisance alarms through automated analytics and recommendations.

In advance of the EMO trade fair in Hanover, Germany in September, Siemens hosted an event to provide an outlook on what the company will be exhibiting.  Much of the focus of the event was on MindSphere and its application in machine tools.  MindSphere is Siemens’ open cloud platform as a service (PaaS) on which apps and digital services can be developed and deployed.

Ahead of the EMO trade fair in Hanover, Germany in September this year, Siemens hosted an event to provide an outlook on what the company will be exhibiting.  The event was held in a Siemens factory where the company has been manufacturing electric motors for industrial applications for 80 years.

GE Digital announced the availability of its newest version of the company’s Asset Performance Management (APM) suite of software. This update adds to GE Digital’s portfolio of Predix-powered software, including both on-premises and cloud-based offerings.
