Executive Overview
A recent ARC Advisory Group survey indicated that the mood of the automation market is in a state of flux, with the ratio of those respondents who are "optimistic" to "pessimistic" shifting continuously over the course of the survey. This was driven by macroeconomic and political developments, rather than factors directly related to the automation market.
While Q1 2014 showed a clear downwards trend in year-over-year growth, the index grew in Q2 and Q3 2014, which could well indicate the beginning of an upwards trend in the market. A few regional markets contributed to growth, but an equal number experienced downward developments.
As of this writing, ARC sees four big questions related to the future market developments:
- How will the political development in Russia impact automation markets?
- How long will the US and its cheap energy remain an engine for growth?
- When will China be a growth driver again?
- What is the impact of the Japanese economy?
In this quarterly ARC Automation Index report, we examine and quantify a these (and other) factors to show how they impact the automation market, both directly and indirectly.
