ARC’s European Industry Forum is part of our successful series of worldwide conferences in Europe, America and Asia. The next European Forum will be held in Sitges (Barcelona), Spain on May 4-6, 2026 and focus on “Achieving Resilient Operations through AI, Digitalization, and Sustainability”. Participants are invited to attend exclusive presentations and workshops on strategies and case studies from the digital front lines.

Keynote: DEXPI as the Heart Of Industrial Grade AI
Artificial Intelligence is transforming many industries—but its impact on engineering in the process industry remains limited. One key reason is not the lack of data, but the lack of structured, machine-readable engineering information. Today, critical data such as P&IDs are often locked in PDFs or proprietary formats, making them inaccessible for advanced AI applications.

Industrial-grade AI requires a solid data foundation: DEXPI (Data Exchange in the Process Industry) provides it by enabling standardized, vendor-independent, and semantically rich representations of engineering data, making process knowledge accessible and usable for digital systems. It can then be transformed into knowledge graphs that capture relationships, topology, and semantics of assets. These graphs enable a new generation of AI applications, including graph-based reasoning, natural language interaction, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (Graph-RAG) tailored to engineering contexts.

The keynote will present a unified architecture from engineering tools to DEXPI, knowledge graphs, and AI applications, demonstrating how standardized data becomes the key enabler for scalable, reliable, and explainable industrial AI.

The keynote will be delivered by Dr. Michael Wiedau, Chairman of the Board of DEXPI and a Data Excellence Expert at Evonik. With over 15 years of experience in the process industry, he specializes in data integration across the asset lifecycle, and focuses on semantic data models, interoperability, and enabling digital twins and AI-driven applications.
