Mapped, a data infrastructure for IoT company, has launched an AI-powered data infrastructure platform Data Infrastructure for IoTdesigned to help change how data discovery, extraction, mapping, and enrichment is done in commercial and industrial IoT environments.

Mapped automatically discovers disparate devices in commercial and industrial environments and maps them into an ontology that helps digitization teams, app developers, systems engineers, and subject matter experts to access normalized live data.  Mapped further simplifies the experience by providing a common API that is more secure and more reliable.

Helping to Unlock Innovation at Scale

By automating the tasks of data discovery, normalization, and enrichment, Mapped helps to empower IT teams, OT teams, operations and supervisory teams to share data across systems or locations to derive additional  business insights.  The Mapped platform and its single API allows for unlocking additional innovation at scale.

AI-Powered Data Infrastructure

Helping to bypass the nuances of some existing data ecosystems, Mapped's technology allows for easier discovery of the automation, sensor, control, and IoT devices on a network by monitoring data traffic and any related activities.  Data is then extracted from the devices and moved to the cloud where machine-learning takes over to help normalize, structure, and enrich the data.

Mapped provides its customers with the data infrastructure to better organize, analyze, and react to incoming and outgoing information across multiple systems in a single environment, which helps to ease the managing of disparate data from multiple on-premises and cloud sources, knowing that all data sources are available in a more secure and consistent manner regardless of source, protocol, or location,

API-Based Digital Transformation

With a single API and a more developer-friendly data ontology, software developers have more time to focus on building applications rather than the challenges of integration, all without requiring a physical presence in the buildings or reading manufacturer documentation for legacy systems, irrespective of make, model, or protocol.

Mapped was founded by Shaun Cooley, formerly vice president and chief technology officer of IoT at Cisco and a former Symantec distinguished engineer.  Shaun is joined by executives formerly from Cisco, Twilio, and Qualcomm.  The company has raised $3M in seed funding from Greycroft, ANIMO Ventures and is backed by several major companies from the industry.  Mapped has several early partners, including Fortune 100 technology firms, one of the world's largest retailers, leading commercial real estate owner/operators, and a commercial manufacturer.

Craig Resnick, ARC Advisory Group, commented, "With the radical disruptive changes occurring in both commercial and industrial business operations -- many of which have been accelerated by the pandemic -- the marketplace is seeking API's that offer digital transformation solutions.  There is a strong need for API's that both enable the discovery of a multitude of known and unknown installed assets from various generations of technology, and optimize the data extracted from those assets to the fullest extent possible.  Mapped provides its users with an AI-driven data infrastructure platform that can save the user months of asset discovery time, bringing together critical data across an organization, easing the burden that historical system complexities can bring, and maximizing operational profitability."
