Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will strengthen competitiveness by establishing more autonomous FA systems business in local market

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation has announced plans to establish Mitsubishi Electric Intelligent Manufacturing Technology (China) Group Co., Ltd. in Suzhou, China—a strategic location for its factory automation (FA) systems business—on April 1. The new company will handle product planning, development, manufacturing, and sales, with the goal of building autonomous business operations that can quickly adapt to the evolving needs of customers in the dynamic Chinese market, thereby enhancing overall competitiveness.
Mitsubishi Electric will also participate in a third-party allotment of new shares issued by HD Renewable Energy, further strengthening their partnership. As part of its "Environmental Sustainability Vision 2050," Mitsubishi Electric aims to reach net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its factories and offices by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2031. Through this investment, the company plans to explore corporate PPA opportunities using solar power systems developed by HD Renewable Energy in Japan, with the goal of advancing its renewable energy procurement efforts.
Mitsubishi Electric's FA systems business has been working to grow its presence in China by operating local manufacturing, sales, and service hubs to deliver high-performance products that, until now, have been primarily planned and developed in Japan.
In recent years, the push to boost productivity through smart factories has gained significant momentum in the Chinese market. Consequently, industrial customers are seeking a wider range of functions and enhanced performance from FA products, while also placing greater emphasis on timely product development and faster delivery in an increasingly competitive environment.
In response, Mitsubishi Electric has decided to set up a Chinese headquarters to oversee its FA systems business, aiming to align its operations more closely with the local market environment. By leveraging the new company's agile and autonomous management structure, Mitsubishi Electric plans to implement local product planning and development, build a comprehensive local supply chain, and focus on attracting and nurturing talent—enabling quicker and more effective responses to the evolving needs of industrial customers in China.
Looking ahead, Mitsubishi Electric remains committed to enhancing the global competitiveness and sustainable growth of its FA systems business, with the aim of supporting customers in addressing their manufacturing challenges.
