Siemens has completed its acquisition of Altair Engineering Inc., a provider of industrial simulation and analysis software, for an enterprise value of approximately USD 10 billion. This move expands Siemens’ capabilities in mechanical and electromagnetic simulation, high-performance computing (HPC), data science, and industrial artificial intelligence (AI).

Altair’s technology will be integrated into the Siemens Xcelerator open digital business platform, broadening Siemens’ industrial software portfolio. The acquisition is also positioned as part of Siemens’ ONE Tech Company program, which supports the company's focus on scaling its digital offerings.

The integration is expected to:

  • Enhance Siemens’ digital twin capabilities.

  • Expand access to advanced simulation tools for a wider range of users.

  • Improve HPC workflows and AI-driven tool development.

  • Support data analytics across industries to accelerate digital transformation.

The acquisition contributes to Siemens’ strategy to grow its digital revenue and strengthen its position in strategic areas such as software, connected hardware, AI, and sustainability.

In addition to acquiring Altair, Siemens has recently invested in expanding its US operations with new facilities in California and Texas. Overall, Siemens has invested more than USD 100 billion in the US over the past 20 years.
