In a ceremony on September 25 held at its regional headquarters complex in Singapore, Yokogawa Engineering Asia launched In-Space (short for Innovation Space), a customer experience centre that offers an immersive environment for industrial clients to experience the company’s suite of digital transformation solutions and access custom consulting services focused on their specific needs and challenges.
The launch was officiated by Takashi Nishijima, president and CEO, Yokogawa Electric Corp; Kazuhiko Takeoka, president and CEO, Yokogawa Engineering Asia (YEA); Lim Kok Kiang, assistant managing director, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB); and a senior representative from the Embassy of Japan in Singapore.
Serving clients in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Oceania, it is Yokogawa’s first such facility globally and comes two years after the establishment of the company’s Co-Innovation Centre (on the same site in in Singapore), which researches and develops customer-specific, cross-functional solutions in collaboration with clients and partners. In-Space enhances and expands on that approach by promoting interaction among Yokogawa and plant owners, and leverage the company’s OpreX suite of technologies and solutions to help traditional industries develop digital plants, in line with Yokogawa’s Synaptic Business Automation concept.
As there is no one single application or technology that enables digital transformation, the first step at In-Space involves Yokogawa engaging with clients and partners in a discovery journey to develop the optimal portfolio of solutions and services to meet customers’ goals. Indicating the possible areas of collaboration, the technologies on show during the Singapore launch event included advanced analytics, augmented/virtual reality, cyber-physical security, mirror plant, and robotic process automation.
According to YEA's Kazuhiko Takeoka, with In-Space as Yokogawa’s hub in Asia for innovation and creative thinking, the company can help clients envision a smarter plant, connected and intelligent, with information and data visibility from the factory floor to the C-suite, and enable them to achieve performance excellence across their enterprises.
In conjunction with the launch of In-Space, Yokogawa Engineering Asia unveiled an enhanced Global Security Competence Laboratory, offering a wide range of cybersecurity management solutions to maintain the stability and flexibility of the modern plant operation. The Global Security Competence Laboratory leverages industry knowledge and capabilities accumulated by Yokogawa through high-profile, large-scale projects to provide plant security lifecycle services and solutions for operational resilience.
