Korea’s largest manufacturing innovation exhibition, Smart Factory & Automation World (AW 2025), opened on March 12 and will run until March 14 at COEX in Seoul, covering the entire venue in its largest edition yet. This year’s event features participation from 22 countries, 500 companies, 2,200 booths, and an estimated 80,000 visitors, under the theme Automation to Autonomy.

Global and domestic technology suppliers are showcasing smart factory and automation technologies, including AI-powered manufacturing solutions, collaborative robots, industrial and logistics robots, digital twins, sensors, and machine vision.

During the week, more than 200 expert-led conferences are also taking place, including the 2025 Industrial Intelligence Conference and the AI Autonomous Manufacturing Innovation Forum. These sessions provide a platform to discuss trends in manufacturing innovation and autonomous production.

80,000 visitors are expected at this week’s Smart Factory & Automation World show in Seoul, South Korea.

Software-Defined Factory

First-time exhibitor, Hyundai AutoEver, a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group, is presenting its NEO Factory solution, a Software-Defined Factory (SDF) system that enables autonomous manufacturing. The NEO Factory system integrates advanced automation technologies to optimize production capacity and capital efficiency.

For the first time in Asia, Hyundai Glovis is unveiling Boston Dynamics’ logistics robot, Stretch. Designed for high-speed and precision de-palletizing, Stretch enhances warehouse and logistics operations by efficiently handling containerized cargo. Hyundai Glovis also introduced its new smart logistics center currently under construction at Incheon Airport.

Meanwhile, Schneider Electric is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Korea under the theme, 50 Years of Innovation: A Sustainable IMPACT for Smart Factory. Visitors can see machine automation solutions and robotics innovations that enhance human-machine collaboration and advance Industry 5.0 smart manufacturing environments, with a strong focus on sustainability and digital transformation.

Smart Logistics

Prominent on the show floor is the Smart Logistics Pavilion, featuring leading global logistics companies, including AutoStore (Norway), Libiao Robotics (China), Techman Robot (Taiwan), and CMES (Korea), showcasing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated guided vehicles (AGVs), logistics robots, and AI-powered logistics automation systems. Additionally, top collaborative robot manufacturers such as Universal Robots and HD Hyundai Robotics, Korea’s leading industrial robot manufacturer, are demonstrating their latest technology advancements.

For the first time, the AW Open Innovation Round is taking place, identifying the top six innovative manufacturing startups and linking them with large- and mid-sized enterprises for business collaborations and investment opportunities.

To facilitate global business expansion, the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) is organizing one-on-one export consultation meetings, bringing together 23 international buyers from nine countries—including Indonesia’s largest telecom company, Telkomsel—and 100 Korean companies.
