PTC announced the upcoming availability of Kepware Edge, a new Linux-based industrial communications platform designed to help modernize legacy architectures and accelerate industrial connectivity deployment. Part of the Kepware suite, the platform is intended to support data-driven operations with AI and automation while helping to improve scalability, security, and maintainability.
Kepware Edge will be deployed via container, enabling more rapid rollout across production lines, individual sites, or enterprise-wide systems. The platform supports connectivity for major brand PLCs and industrial devices and integrates with key applications through OPC UA and MQTT.
To address the growing demand for more efficient, reliable data access, Kepware Edge includes:
Device connectivity for major brands such as Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Modbus-enabled devices.
IT/OT integration via OPC UA and MQTT for compatibility with SCADA, MES, and cloud platforms.
Linux container deployment for enhanced portability, scalability, and ease of maintenance.
Enhanced security and performance through a 64-bit, containerized architecture.
Simplified deployment and updates that helps to reduce operational overhead and support modern IT practices.
