These new capabilities reflect how cloud-native CAD platforms are evolving to support AI-driven productivity and regulated collaboration in aerospace and defense.
PTC has introduced two new capabilities to its cloud-native Onshape platform: Onshape AI Advisor, an intelligent assistant that provides users with generative AI support during design and data management workflows, and Onshape Government, a version of the platform built to meet ITAR and EAR regulatory requirements for aerospace and defense projects.

Onshape AI Advisor offers step-by-step guidance to help engineering teams navigate CAD workflows, adopt best practices in product data management, and optimize designs. Developed on Amazon Bedrock, the tool also supports users transitioning from legacy CAD systems and is designed to help improve efficiency throughout the design process by embedding guidance directly into the platform.
Onshape Government, hosted on AWS GovCloud (US), extends the platform to organizations working on regulated programs. It supports compliance with US federal regulations while maintaining real-time collaboration, version control, and cloud-native accessibility, which helps teams to work more efficiently across secure environments.
Key features of the new offerings include:
AI-driven guidance for CAD design, PDM workflows, and platform navigation.
Support for legacy system transition and design optimization.
Compliance-ready architecture aligned with ITAR and EAR regulations.
Secure, real-time collaboration with cloud-based version control.
These updates reflect the broader expansion of cloud-native CAD platforms to include simulation, rendering, and integrated PLM capabilities, which help to address the evolving needs in both industry and education.
