Telit Communications PLC, a global enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), has entered into an agreement with SAP to license and resell the Telit deviceWISE IoT platform.
The collaboration between Telit and SAP is expected to offer a foundation for connecting devices. The goal is to deliver data to SAP enterprise systems and leverage the SAP HANA platform, across various industrial environments for remote machine monitoring and control, production diagnostics, predictive maintenance, remote service and across various markets and industries globally.
SAP recently announced its SAP Asset Intelligence Network and the SAP Predictive Maintenance and Service solution to help equipment manufacturers, service providers and asset operators leverage the Internet of Things as the proliferation of sensors and smart devices is used to perform asset management.
This collaboration provide the applications and the business network to help enable new insights and the ability for stakeholders in asset management to move from a reactive to a more proactive approach.
Telit and SAP are already working with companies of various sizes, on driving business applications towards the Internet of Things, helping to save money from operational efficiencies, generate revenues from new products and services, and improve compliance. For example, the companies worked together with a global supplier of commercial cleaning equipment that has implemented the integrated IoT solution to extract real-time performance data from remote cleaning machines to generate actionable insights using big data analytics.
Industrial customers can review when and where facilities have been serviced, determine where machines are physically located, track consumable levels, perform preventative maintenance and initiate replacement parts orders on a single unit or an entire fleet worldwide.
