Microsoft has acquired Wunderkinder GmbH, the creator of the to-do list app, Wunderlist.
The addition of Wunderlist to the Microsoft product portfolio focuses on its mobile and cloud initiatives. Building on its Microsoft Office, OneNote and Skype for Business, as well as the recent Sunrise and Acompli acquisitions, it further shows Microsoft's direction to delivering mobile apps across the platforms and devices its customers use for mail, calendaring, messaging, notes and now tasks.
Customers can expect the app to remain free in all of its existing markets. There will be no price changes for Wunderlist Pro or Wunderlist for Business customers and the service will continue to support a range of third-party apps and integrated services.
Much like Sunrise, it sounds like Wunderlist will continue operating as normal for the foreseeable future, with Microsoft ultimately planning a deeper integration with its own apps somewhere down the line.
Wunderlist's has 13 million+ customers who have created more than one billion to-dos.
