Mitsubishi Electric Automation Adds Option Card and Programming Software to 800 Series VFDs
Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. introduces the FR-Configurator2, a new generation of variable frequency drive (VFD) programming software, plus plug-in type option cards and stand-alone accessories for its FR-A800 and FR-F800 series inverters. These additions are designed to provide more flexibility in order to help maximize the inverters' performance and application efficiency.
The stand-alone and shared accessories include the programming software, keypads, cables, terminal blocks, resistors, and a regeneration controller. The FR-Configurator2 software allows users to view and set parameter lists, and check diagnostics. It also lets users perform parameter conversion for migration from 700 Series VFDs to the newer 800 Series VFDs. Key functions of the option card include input and output (digital and analog), communication and feedback.
800 Series inverters and the new options are suited for controlling three-phase induction and IPM/SPM motors in fan and pump applications. In the mining industry, they can be used in material handling conveyors, run in/out tables, reheat furnaces and cooling beds.
The 800 Series inverter option cards and accessories include a range of communications including CC-Link and PROFIBUS-DP, parameter programming units and operational display panels. The 800 Series also includes other stand-alone options, including harmonic suppression controllers, regenerative converters and heatsink options.
Installation manuals, specification documents and other materials for the 800 Series option cards and accessories are available at Mitsubishi Electric Automation's knowledge base and resource library.
Mitsubishi Electric Automation Takes VFD Technology into 600-Volt Regions with its A860 Series Inverter
Mitsubishi Electric Automation expanded its inverter technology with the introduction of the A860 Series variable frequency drives, a 600-volt version of the A800 Series all-in-one VFD. The new A860 Series inverter combines traditional induction and permanent magnet motors into a single solution. The drives are designed for regions and appliactions where the main power supply is 575-600 volts.
The A860 delivers speed, torque and positioning control for standard three-phase motors. It is particularly suited for controlling shock loads experienced in machine tools, and in lifting and hoisting applications. This multi-capability VFD is expected to achieve adoption in the timber and textile industries, with particular suitability for use in saws, chippers, de-barkers and heavy conveyors.
The A860 can be used in both induction motors and interior permanent motors. Its suitability across a number of different applications and motor types helps to reduce engineering, implementation, and long-term support and helps to eliminate the need for application-specific VFDs.
Mitsubishi Introduces an Energy-Saving Variable-Frequency Drive
Mitsubishi Electric Automation introduced the F800 Series variable-frequency drives for more precise motor speed control to help maximize energy savings. The low-voltage F800 is specifically designed to help improve the efficiency of air movement through heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
While the F800 is suitable for HVAC applications, including air handlers, cooling towers and pumps, this multi-functional F800 is also appropriate for pumps and fans within industrial applications. The F800 controls and supports multiple motor types, including AC induction and permanent magnet motors, helping to eliminating the need to specify multiple VFDs to address various motor control needs. This versatility also makes it suitable for the food & beverage, automotive, and water treatment industries.
Using embedded motor control algorithms that help optimize AC motor voltage and current based on the desired load, the F800 allows users to help maximize motor usage and performance while saving energy. This drives series also includes energy-monitoring capabilities to capture and display actual energy usage.
The F800 includes on-board preventive maintenance to help reduce unexpected downtime. There's also an optional liquid crystal display (LCD) that provides time-stamped logging and real-time clock scheduling functions. The F800 comes in traditional chassis style, large system/component style and is also available as a true turnkey bypass control solution. It is available in 200- and 400-volt classes.
