The 2020 ARC Industry Forum in Orlando on February 3-6 will be THE event of 2020 for learning more about the progress of Open Process Automation.  Sessions conducted by ARC Advisory Group and by The Open Group will enable you to learn the latest news from the people and firms that are engaged in this work.  Besides that, the ARC Forum offers valuable workshops on Monday, an agenda of insightful and informative sessions, and plenty of opportunities for informal discussions, networking, and meetings with peers and business partners.

Open Process Automation Sessions

On Tuesday, February 4, an afternoon session entitled “Open Process Automation Status” will feature three reports on important activities from 2019 and 2020.  First, the Open Group will give a brief overview of news from their Open Process Automation Forum activity.  Then ExxonMobil will report on their pilot program, which features a diverse set of hardware and software suppliers and is targeted to manage an ExxonMobil pilot plant later in 2020.  Finally, Evonik will report on their recent work with NAMUR’s Module Type Package (MTP) technology for rapid integration of modular process equipment and skid-mounted systems. There will be time set aside for the session’s audience to question these experts directly.

Open Process Automation

Following this session, a panel of end user process automation leaders from DuPont, Shell, Eastman, and Evonik will discuss the prospects for open automation systems within their firms, as well as the opportunities and barriers that they see.  Again, there will be ample time for Q&A and direct discussion with these leaders.

On Thursday morning, February 6, the chairs and working group leaders of The Open Process Automation Forum will explain their work during 2019 and their plans for 2020.  This will feature a detailed look at the latest version of their O-PAS specification

Thursday afternoon and Friday, the Open Process Automation Forum will hold scheduled face-to-face meetings.  Though these meetings are limited to OPAF members, parties interested in OPAF membership may also be allowed to attend with permission from The Open Group, who will be at the ARC Forum as a sponsoring organization.

The ARC Industry Forum is the best place to learn about the future of process automation.  There’s still time to register and attend.  See you there!
