Control’s Hall of Fame Inducts Andy Chatha

Annually, Control magazine selects members into its Hall of Fame, and the inductees to Control's Hall of Fame are nominated and selected by the existing Hall of Fame members. The criteria considered when reviewing and voting is excellence, diligence, and influence on the process control industry. The Hall of Fame members are considered "Prudentes Temporo Mentoris" or "wise control mentors." All members share a passion to solve challenges that confront industries, and to mentor the future generation. They believe that you must be open to new opportunities when they come knocking, to take a risk, step through that door, and embrace the unknown.

This year, Andy Chatha, President and CEO of ARC Advisory Group, features in the prestigious Hall of Fame list.  This blog captures a few salient points of the interview.

How it all Began

The interview traced Andy’s education and life across three continents that gave him a global perspective and an intellectual wanderlust that constantly made him seek “what’s new, what’s next?” He always had the big picture view.

In 1986, Andy began with consulting work for some of his industry contacts from his home office as he felt that he could add value to the process automation space. From this idea germinated ARC Advisory Group, now the leading market research consultancy with a focus on the world of operational and engineering technologies. It now features a network of some 80 industry and technology specialists, serving client needs worldwide. Why Andy chose this line of work:

• Wanted to know more and better understand the business aspects of industry.
• Marketing activities—especially market research because it gives you a better understanding of the landscape.
• Looking to the future, to see where things are headed.

“What drives me is all the change that’s coming,” said Andy.

ARC’s Expanding Scope

When opportunity knocked, Andy opened the door. From the core automation tasks of its early days, ARC’s scope has now expanded to enterprise software, cloud architectures, digital transformation, and industrial autonomy. “And now, on top of that are cybersecurity and sustainability,” says Andy. ARC works with leading companies, both end users and solution providers – as they all want to better understand industry. In terms of legacy, Andy derives great personal satisfaction from “helping our industry grow and transform to better understand and adopt new technologies and new strategies.”  He spoke about the ARC team that plays a vital role in the company’s growth.
