Inductive Automation and Cirrus Link Solutions announced the upcoming release of the Cirrus Link MQTT Modules for Ignition. Ignition by Inductive Automation is a database-centric, web-deployed, cross-platform, industrial applications platform for HMI, SCADA, and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The new modules — MQTT Engine, MQTT Injector, and MQTT Distributor — are the result of a new partnership between Cirrus Link and Inductive Automation. These modules will accelerate organizations' ability to leverage the IIoT.
Inductive Automation, based in Folsom, California, is a growing industrial automation software company. Its key product, Ignition, is used in 90 countries. Cirrus Link Solutions is based in Kansas City, Kansas. Arlen Nipper, president of Cirrus Link, is the co-inventor of Message Queueing Telemetry Transport (MQTT). MQTT is a lighter-weight pub/sub messaging transport that is suited to the IIoT. MQTT provides bi-directional communication in a simpler manner, so it requires more minimal network bandwidth. And, the speed of the new solution is such that the new Cirrus Link MQTT Modules for Ignition can connect hundreds of devices in a short period of time.
Inductive Automation and Cirrus Link demonstrated the new MQTT Modules for Ignition at a press conference on February 8 at the ARC Industry Forum in Orlando, Florida.
The Cirrus Link MQTT Modules for Ignition will be available for purchase beginning February 24, 2016. On that date, Inductive Automation will conduct a webinar to introduce the details of the newly released product.
