Industrial networking infrastructure provider Belden delivered a record second quarter, underscoring growing demand for industrial automation, AI infrastructure, and modernized networking platforms. The results demonstrated that several long-term trends continue to accelerate simultaneously: industrial automation investments, manufacturing reshoring initiatives, IT/OT convergence, hyperscale AI infrastructure expansion, and growing demand for software-driven networking solutions. The company’s results also provided the first look at how its recently completed acquisition of RUCKUS Networks positions Belden to expand beyond its traditional industrial networking roots and become a full-stack networking technology provider.
Financial Highlights
Belden reported second-quarter revenue of $750 million, up 12 percent year over year and above the high end of guidance. Organic growth reached 8 percent, driven by strong demand across automation, process industries, and enterprise growth verticals. Adjusted earnings per share increased 24 percent year over year to $2.34, while adjusted EBITDA rose 28 percent to $146 million, resulting in a 19.5 percent EBITDA margin. Orders reached a record $836 million, increasing 19 percent year over year. Demand was broad-based across Automation, Smart Buildings, and Broadband.
Automation remained the strongest growth engine, supported by investments in discrete and process manufacturing. Smart Buildings benefited from continued strength in data centers and healthcare, while Broadband showed improving order trends as operators prepare for DOCSIS upgrades and expanded fiber deployments.
AI Infrastructure Moves from Vision to Execution
A central theme throughout the earnings call was Belden’s growing role in AI-related infrastructure, including a new, approximately $20 million fiber connectivity win with a Tier-1 hyperscaler for AI data center deployments. Combined with previous hyperscale projects, Belden booked roughly $40 million in hyperscaler orders during the quarter. These wins demonstrate that the company is successfully expanding beyond traditional enterprise data center cabling into higher-growth AI infrastructure opportunities.
The report also emphasized the networking infrastructure required to support Physical AI used in autonomous robots and intelligent machines operating in factories and distribution centers. During the quarter, a major global retailer selected Belden technology to support autonomous systems across US distribution facilities, representing an estimated $20 million opportunity over four years.
These examples illustrate how AI infrastructure extends beyond hyperscale data centers. As industrial environments increasingly deploy robotics, machine vision, and autonomous systems, reliable wired and wireless networking becomes a critical enabler of real-time decision-making and operational performance.
RUCKUS Expands the IT/OT Networking Platform
The July 1 closing of the RUCKUS Networks acquisition significantly expands Belden’s ability to deliver complete networking solutions across both operational technology and information technology environments. The company positions RUCKUS as a platform business that complements Belden’s industrial networking portfolio with enterprise switching, Wi-Fi 7, and cloud-managed networking software. The combined portfolio now spans passive infrastructure, industrial networking, enterprise switching, wireless connectivity, and cloud-based management software. The transaction accelerates Belden’s strategic shift toward higher-value solutions and software, with solutions now representing approximately 20 percent of combined revenue and enabling the company to achieve a central corporate target years ahead of schedule.
ARC Perspective
Belden’s second-quarter results highlight how industrial networking suppliers are evolving to address emerging AI-driven infrastructure requirements. Historically known for connectivity products, the company is increasingly positioning itself as a provider of integrated networking platforms spanning industrial automation, enterprise networking, hyperscale infrastructure, and cloud software.
The combination of strong order growth, expanding AI infrastructure opportunities, and the addition of RUCKUS strengthens Belden’s position in several attractive markets. The company’s strategy aligns with broader industry trends toward digital transformation, industrial automation, AI-enabled operations, and IT/OT convergence. As AI adoption expands beyond data centers and into physical industrial environments, organizations will require networking architectures capable of supporting both enterprise and operational workloads.
