Rockwell Automation released its new ThinManager v10.0 software platform, which contains new visualization, mobility and security features. A key part of Rockwell Automation’s software portfolio, ThinManager software platforms are industrial-grade thin clients that helps to improve operator productivity as well as to help to provide  increased access, flexibility and portability of production information required by users, such as operators, technicians, and other plant and manufacturing personnel.

With a new virtual-screening capability, users of the ThinManager v10.0 software platform can customize how they see applications and the data from multiple sources without rewriting any code. This capability can help users view the most relevant information that they specifically require. New support for wearable technology can also help users to access information. For example, a maintenance technician could diagnose and troubleshoot a machine by using a Microsoft HoloLens mixed-reality headset.

The updated software introduces authentication pass-through to help improve productivity. In the past, users had to log in to ThinManager and other software applications separately, adding time to operations. Now the software can natively pass users’ credentials to supported HMI products, such as FactoryTalk View Site Edition.

Improved authentication features help to reduce operator maintenance and improve security by simplifying the management of devices and users. Version 10.0 allows operators to configure multiple forms of authentication, such as RFID badges and biometrics. New password-caching capabilities allow administrators to configure time periods for PIN authentication during a shift.

With its built-in mobility solution, Relevance, the platform can deliver supported software components directly to mobile devices at specific locations within a facility. Relevance uses location resolvers, such as Bluetooth beacons and Wi-Fi, so mobile users and devices can only receive content in authorized areas. This capability can help users achieve greater connectivity with better operational security.

ThinManager delivers content to the required locations and presents it to operators how they would like to view it. This thin client management and mobility solution is designed specifically for industrial application delivery and management. ThinManager can be used in most industrial vertical markets, such as food and beverage and water/wastewater.
